Shannon Fentiman

Attorney-General, Minister for Justice

Elected in 2015 as the Member for Waterford, Shannon Fentiman is Queensland’s Attorney- General, Minister for Justice, Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, and Ministerial Champion for Torres Strait.

A strong advocate for social justice, Shannon is also committed to ensuring all Queenslanders have access to justice and equality before the law. She is committed to eliminating the scourge of violence against women and children across Queensland, and recognising the importance of establishing a voice in Government for women, families, and Queensland’s most vulnerable communities.

Prior to her current portfolio, Shannon served in two ministerial portfolios: as the Minister for Employment and Small Business and the Minister for Training and Skills Development, and as the Minister for Communities, Child Safety, Women and Youth and the Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence.

Shannon holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws. She was admitted as a Legal Practitioner in 2007 and prior to her election to parliament she worked as an employment lawyer.
