Cathy Hunt wins the Inaugural Advancement of Women Award from Zonta Brisbane
On Wednesday 6th November, WOW Australia Executive Producer Cathy Hunt became the winner of the inaugural Advancement of Women Award, as announced by the Zonta Club of Brisbane at their Centennial Dinner celebrations. Cathy was one of four incredible individuals, each reconised for their efforts to move towards a gender-equal future. They included Deb Suckling (Founder & CEO SUGARRUSH Music), Professor Margaret Sheil (Vice-Chancellor QUT) and Ian Gillespie (Group CEO RACQ).
The Award was a living bequest to the Club by the late Dr Joan Godfrey, alongside Zontians Susan Hocking and Susan Davies each who made bequests in memory of their respective mothers, Lesley Hocking and Anne Davies.
Judges Professor Lesley Chenoweth AC and Genevieve Gray said they found the task of choosing between the high calibre finalists extremely difficult because of their outstanding track record in advancing the interests and careers of women in Australia.
Cathy will contribute the prize money of $5000 to the #inhername campaign for WOW Australia, which supports women and girls who regardless of background or circumstance to participate in a WOW event either as speakers, performers or audience members.
“I was honoured to receive this award especially in the company of such outstanding finalists, each of whom are tireless in their efforts to move towards a gender-equal future. Thank you to Zonta, and thank you to the women who contributed for their vision and foresight,” said Cathy.
