What kind of future are we building together? What if we stopped asking young people to wait for the future - and invited them to help design it?

That’s the idea behind House of Us, a participatory art and education project presented as part of WOW Cairns 2026 on Gimuy Country.

Together, young people will explore identity, belonging, wellbeing, community and home before contributing their ideas to a collaborative public installation.

As Cairns celebrates 150 years, House of Us will become a living archive of the hopes, dreams and aspirations of the next generation - because the future isn’t something we inherit, it’s something we build together.
