WOW Healing space: Animal Totems: Understanding How We Show Up

The WOW Healing Space is a very special space in the Festival, hosted by CEED Healing, this space will be available throughout the day if you need a quite space to reflect and decompress.

Join Guugu Yimithirr and Butchulla artist, educator and cultural facilitator Susan Reys for a reflective and engaging WOW Healing Space exploring the ways we show up in our relationships, communities and everyday lives.

The workshop introduces the Animal Totem framework – a gentle metaphor-based activity that helps participants recognise their communication style, stress responses, and in a culturally safe spaces designed for clarity and connection.

 

Facilitators

Susan Reys

Susan is a Guugu Yimithirr and Butchulla artist, educator, and cultural facilitator whose practice centres on deep listening and gentle, metaphor-based learning. Raised in Far North Queensland, she works across painting, clay, and community workshops to create culturally safe spaces for reflection and connection.

Her Animal Totem framework supports participants to explore identity, communication patterns, and emotional literacy through symbolic animal archetypes. Drawing on her family’s teachings and her own creative practice, Susan guides communities toward clarity, self-awareness, and grounded presence.

CEED Healing

CEED Healing is a culturally grounded healing and learning practice founded by Karen Reys, creating culturally safe spaces shaped by Indigenous values, Deep Listening, truth telling, and connection to Country. Guided by Ancestors and matriarchal lineage, CEED Healing supports individuals and communities to explore identity, belonging, and wellbeing through colour teachings, meditation, story sharing, and reflective practice. Its programs honour cultural partnership with Elders and knowledge holders, ensuring integrity, cultural authority, and relational learning. Together with Henry Fourmile, Traditional Owner of Gimuy, and Sue Reys of Kgari 3 Sisters, CEED Healing partners with organisations to deliver cultural safety workshops on truth telling, healing, and reconciliation, guiding gentle transformative practice.
