Why do we bother – why in the third decade of the 21st century are we still creating events to discuss the issue of gender inequality?

Because there is still no country in the world where women, men and non-binary people are equal, despite all the legal and social changes we have gone through over the past 100 years, not in political representation, nor in health, nor the economy and in many places in the world in education. And violence against women and girls continues to escalate.

Why discuss this issue in the form of a festival, a place for joy and celebration?  Because we believe that through creative expression and storytelling, and in celebrating what we have achieved so far, we can create a new movement for action and change, one that is inclusive of all voices and all experiences and brings men and boys to a place where regardless of culture or creed, gender will not remain a barrier.
